About South Hackensack, NJ Real Estate Market

One of the smallest townships present in Bergen County in New Jersey, South Hackensack is spread over just 0.75 square miles. However, despite the small area, South Hackensack is home to around 2,500 people, thus making it one of the most densely populated townships in the county.

South Hackensack is one of the suburbs of New York City, which makes it a pleasant place to live in, with high living standards and well-sized homes for sale in NJ. Since its location is relative to Hackensack, the township’s name got derived from it.

The formation of South Hackensack happened by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on November 15, 1935, as a process that replaced Lodi Township. The establishment of the township took place based on the results of a referendum, which came out on November 5, 1935.

Currently, the township of South Hackensack has three sections. The primary section is in the northeastern direction which is adjacent to Hackensack, Teterboro and Little Ferry and has several residential places. Towards the west, the township has Garfield Park, surrounded by Lodi, Garfield, Wallington and Wood-Ridge. In the southern direction of the township, there are industrial properties in the Meadowlands between Moonachie, Carlstadt and Ridgefield.
